When the company moved to reclaim the district, it called the operation service restoration. SGI called his response liberation. Residents called both hotlines and got hold music. The streets filled with barricades, broken delivery schedules and people trying to get medicine across somebody else's historic moment. Grand language had a real talent for making ordinary needs look small.
SGI won the night. His broadcasts made sure everybody knew it. What they did not show was a bakery flattened by a defensive maneuver or Kett carrying an injured stranger through the rain. The receipts existed. His staff asked whether they should be included. He heard himself say not yet. For one unbearable second, the control room sounded exactly like the old boardroom.
